Since its inception when the school first opened, Black Rock Elementary School has annually organized a holiday food drive to support the Erie Community Food Bank. This event, "Black Rock Gives Back," will mark its 16th year in 2023. This evening, families converge at the school to deposit their food contributions into a collection truck. Outside, the students participate in caroling, guided by our music teacher, while teachers and staff provide hot chocolate and cookies to our school community. Parents, teachers, and even Erie Middle School students lend their support through volunteering at the event, making it a cherished tradition within our school. As a result, our school typically donates between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds of food to the Erie Community Food Bank each year.
